ARDATH TOBACCO CO. LTD.

Ardath Tobacco Ltd was a tobacco, cigar and cigarette manufacturer founded in London in 1895 by Albert Levy and Thomas. The company changed its name from La Casa de Habana to Ardath Tobacco Company in 1896 and specialized in the production of cigarette cards, illustrated cards that were inserted in cigarette packs as a form of advertising and collecting. In 1925 the company sold the international rights of its most famous brand, State Express 555, to British American Tobacco (BAT), but continued to produce it for the British market. In 1958 the company merged with Rothmans of Pall Mall and became part of the BAT group.
