BUCKTROUTH & Co. Ltd.

A History of Excellence in the Tobacco and Beverage
Trade Bucktrout & Co. Ltd. is a historic company based in the Channel Islands, specifically in Guernsey. Founded in 1830 by William Cadic, an enterprising Breton, the company began its commercial activity at the "Three Tuns" tavern near the Town Church of Guernsey. Initially, the company served as a meeting point for shipowners, charterers, suppliers, agents, merchants, captains, and bankers, quickly becoming a hub of the island's economy.
In 1866, William Cadic sold his thriving business to Thomas Bucktrout of Boston Spa. From that time, the company continued to grow under the leadership of Thomas Bucktrout and his right-hand man, George Samuel Wheadon. During this time, Bucktrout & Co. Ltd. established itself as a major supplier of tobacco, cigars and beverages, exporting products worldwide.
The company is known for producing playing cards and collectible cards, including the 1923 "Cinema Stars (OMBI)" series, which depicted the movie stars of the time. These cards were very popular and offered a fascinating insight into the film culture and tobacco marketing of those years.
In addition to cigars, Bucktrout & Co. Ltd. also produced cigarettes, maintaining a strong reputation for the quality of its products. The company supplied fine tobacco, wines and spirits to prestige clubs, colleges, army and navy canteens and yacht clubs, including the Royal Thames.
Today, Bucktrout & Co. Ltd. continues the tradition established more than a century ago, under the leadership of the current president and CEO, Nicholas Wheadon, who represents the fourth generation of the family in the company. Bucktrout & Co. Ltd. remains a leading name in the food, beverage and tobacco retail and wholesale industry, maintaining the commitment to quality and excellence that has characterized its history.
