BRANCH OF THE TOBACCO COMPANY
Edwards Ringer & Bigg was a tobacco and snuff manufacturing company founded in Bristol in 1813 by William Ringer. The company merged in 1893 with another historic Bristol company, Franklyn, Davey & Co. The company was known for its cigarette cards, illustrated cards that were inserted in cigarette packs as a form of advertising and collecting. Among the most famous series are PORTRAITS OF HIS MAJESTY THE KING of 1902, CELEBRATED BRIDGES of 1924 and FAMOUS GOLFERS of 1925.
