Nicolas Sarony Ltd. was one of the earliest and most important cigarette companies in the United Kingdom, founded in 1863 in London by the English photographer and lithographer Nicolas Sarony. The company was famous for its collectible cards, inserted in cigarette packs, which depicted celebrities, historical figures, landscapes and other themes. The collectible cards were highly sought after by collectors and some are preserved in museums and libraries. The company had its factory in Piccadilly, where it employed about 300 workers, and its headquarters in New Bond Street, where in 1925 it changed its name from Nicolas Sarony & Co. to Nicolas Sarony Ltd… The company ceased production in 1959.
